Our Mission

The aim of the Choir is to revitalise synagogue services by introducing music based on traditional melodies, modes and styles (nusach), but giving the music a fresh dynamism by using choral arrangements reflecting a modern musical approach.  In the ten years that the choir has been together, it has acquired a reputation for excellence in its sensitive and melodious interpretation of traditional liturgy as well as more modern music.

Our Music

The majority of the Choir's repertoire consists of arrangements by Raymond Goldstein.  The Choir also sings arrangements by other composers, including Stephen Glass, Emmanuel Fisher and Marc Temerlies.  The choir sings music which was originally composed by such masters as Rosenblatt, Adler, Dunajewsky, de Rossi, Saqui, Lewandowski and Zavel Zilberts.

The Choir sings at the St. John's Wood Synagogue on Shabbatot and Chagim, and performs in various concerts and other events.   The Neimah Singers regularly accompany Chazan Moshe Haschel and have, in addition, performed with Shmuel Barzilai, Rafuel Cohen, Nathan Gluck, Asher Hainovitz, Chaim Eliezer Herstik, Naftali Herstik, Jeremy Lawson, Joseph Malovany, Jonathan Murgraff, and Moshe Stern.
