About the event

We were privileged to have two distinguished guest speakers, Anne Webber, founder and co-chair of The Commission for Looted Art in Europe, and His Honour Judge Tony Baumgartner, a member of the Spoliation Advisory Panel.

Anne Webber gave a sometimes troubling account of the attitudes of European Governments and museums in deciding whether to return art treasures to their rightful owners, whilst HHJ Baumgartner told us of the work of the Panel, and the difficulties in deciding who are the rightful owners of art works.

Both speakers gave us an insight into their valuable work, and we are most grateful to them.  The meeting was hosted by CMS, followed by a reception.
